KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- The 'Kabar Merah Putih' programme produced by Bernama Radio24 enters its third season this year with encouraging response from Indonesian citizens here.

After two seasons, which began in 2014, Bernama Radio24 and the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur continued to strengthen their collaboration in producing the programme until the end of this year.

Bernama Radio24 chief operating officer Azlan Idris said a major factor for the continuation of the programme was the overwhelming response from the Indonesian community.

"Based on telephone calls and feedback that we received through social media, such as Facebook, it was clear that we are getting overwhelming response and attention from the Indonesian community here."

He said this to reporters after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the programme between Bernama Radio24 and the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur here Monday.

The MoU was inked by Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) general manager Datuk Zulkefli Salleh and the Indonesian Embassy Minister Counselor Freddy M. Panggabean and was witnessed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Malaysia Herman Prayitno.

'Kabar Merah Putih' is a programme which aims to provide a platform for the dissemination of latest information on Indonesia to Indonesians living in this country.

Azlan said more Indonesians would gain access to the programme when the frequency of Bernama Radio24 is extended to Sabah (100.9) and Sarawak (107.9) from middle of March.

Also present were Bernama editor-in-chief Datuk Zakaria Abd Wahab and the deputy editor-in-chief Datuk Mokhtar Hussain.
