Ian And Loh Are FT Male And Female Athletes 2013/2014

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- National swimmer Ian James Barr and national diver Loh Zhiayi were chosen as the Federal Territory 2013/2014 Male and Female Athlete, here last night.

They each received a trophy, a cheque valued at RM5,000 given away by Federal Territory Deputy Minister Senator Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

Ian, 20, had won two gold medals in the men's 50-metre back-stroke and 200m individual medley at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) Perlis in 2014.

He also won two gold medals in the 400m individual medley and 200m medley at the Malaysia Open Championship 2013; three gold medals namely the 200m breast stroke, 4x100m individual medley and 200m individual medley at the Asean Schools Championship in 2013.

Meanwhile, Loh won the gold medal in the women's 10m platform at the Myanmar SEA Games 2013. She also won the gold medal for the same event at the Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney in 2013.

In 2014, Loh, 18, won the bronze medal at the Singapore FINA Diving Grand Prix and fourth place at the same championship in Malaysia, both for the women's 10m platform event.

In addition, she also won the silver medal at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games for the women's 10m platform and the bronze medal for the women's 3m spring board.

Meanwhile, another diving athlete, Nur Dhabitah Sabri was made Promising Women Athlete after winning a ticket to the 2016 Olympic Games on merit for the women's individual 10m platform.
