KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- The I-Resolve Foundation today organised a Hari Raya celebration with orphans, children with special needs and abandoned children from two Community Day-Care Centres in Semenyih and Kajang.

The event was co-organised by I-Resolve Foundation, Asia Pacific Forum on Families Malaysia (APFAM), Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC), Brunsfield Foundation and co-sponsored by Sime Darby Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Othman.

APFAM president Prof Datin Dr Jamilah Ariffin said the programme's main objective was to help less fortunate children from different background to come together and celebrate Raya as one big family.

"Normally every year me and my husband (Ghani Othman) will organize this kind of event in Johor where we bring them (less fortunate children) together to celebrate Raya, so we feel it is something that we can try to bring here in KL.

"We invited them to sing and they will be paid for their performance. We are trying to teach them to be economically independent and make money on their own," she told reporters during the event inspired by Marbahaban tradition, held at the KLCGG.

I-Resolve is the acronym for a research foundation called the International research centre for economic progress and society well-being, a registered foundation under the Ministry of Finance.
