PUTRAJAYA, April 22 (Bernama) -- The 3rd Putrajaya Deuter Trail Run scheduled for May 10 received overwhelming response from local and foreign participants.

"When we opened for participant registration last week, we received an overwhelming response. We were fully signed up by the second day and achieved the target of 2,000 participants," said managing director of Universal Fitness & Leisure Sdn Bhd, Datuk Radha Krishnan at the official launch of Putrajaya Deuter Trail Run 2015 at Menara KBS, here today.

It was officiated by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M.Saravanan.

Radha said 30 per cent of the participants registered are foreign expatriates.

"We could not open the event to more than 2,000 participants as the trail is unsuitable to host a larger number of runners," he said.

The event received 1,700 participants in its debut in 2013 and rose to 1,800 participants last year.

This year trail runners will experience a longer race distance and more challenging obstacles and off-road terrain along the race route.

Radha said the obstacle distance at Putrajaya Challenge Park had been increased from 10km to 12km.

Trail running is an outdoor activity which requires immense concentration, training and the right equipment to increase the performance of trail runners.
