Hafizh Clinches 10th Spot In Argentina Moto2 GP

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Petronas Raceline Malaysia rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah put on a credible performance to finish the Argentina Moto2 Grand Prix at the Termes de Rio Honda Circuit, Argentina in 10th place on Sunday.

Hafizh, who started from 16th spot on the grid, enjoyed another rocket start to immediately join the frontrunners in ninth position by the end of the opening lap before Italian, Simone Corse crashed in front of Hafizh and almost took him out of the race.

Following that, Hafizh dropped back to 12th before working himself up to 10th place and completed the 23-lap race in 39 minutes 55.813 seconds ahead of Luis Salom and Moto2 reigning Champion, Tito Rabat who finished 11th and 12th respectively.

"We had a great race and got good results here in Argentina. The 10th place is quite satisfying for the team, considering the tyre problems we had faced during Friday's practice," said Hafizh in the statement, today.

After four rounds, Hafizh has accumulated 20 points to be placed in ninth place in Moto2 World Ranking.

Meanwhile, Idemitsu Honda Team Asia rider, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman who started the race in 25th spot improved by eight positions to finish in 17th place, completing the gruelling 23-lap race in 40:11.034s while JPMoto Malaysia rider, Zaqhwan Zaidi who started in 30th position, finished in 27th spot with a time of 40:51.238s.

The race was won by Frenchman, Johann Zarco who led from start to finish, securing his maiden intermediate class victory in 39:44.497s with Alex Rins and Sam Lowes completing the podium.
