KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- June 6 has been declared as the National Librarian Day.

According to the Malaysian Librarians Association (PPM) president Dr Nor Edzan Che Nasir, the celebration was to honour all librarians in a bid to nurture the love for learning and a thirst for knowledge among the people.

"In our recent meeting with the Library Association of Singapore, they have also agreed to declare June 6 as the National Librarians Day in the island country."

She said this at the PPM's Annual General Meeting 2014/2015 at the National Library here Monday.

Nor Edzan said the association had approximately 400 members right now.

"Personally, I would like to call on all librarians to lure their fellow librarians to become registered members of PPM.

"I'm sure with a large number of membership, we can further develop our profession to be at par with other professions," he added.
