KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Bernama) --The inaugural Weddings.Arts.Fashion (WAF2015) made its debut as an experiential wedding exhibition over the weekend.

The two-day event at Zebra Square here, which according to its organisers, was much more than an average bridal boutique fair, kicked off with a Designers Bridal Show on March 21 between 1 pm to 7 pm.

The exhibition featured two of the most desired brands in the bridal fashion world, namely Monique Lhuillier and Jenny Packham. Hosted by Singapore-brand boutique Trinity Gallery, bridal collections by the two designers were unveiled in Malaysia for the first time.

WAF, short for Weddings and Fashion, is initiated by Wong Chai Yen and Andros Xavier Chan of The Wedding Notebook, a wedding resource website with a quarterly digital magazine as well as Elaine Yuen and Iz Mady of Funkydali, a creative enterprise.

WAF2015 also showcased the best of Monique Lhuillier's collection featuring pieces from her 2015 Spring collection, alongside 2014's Spring and Fall collections.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Lhuillier is currently the most sought-after bridal designer in the world, garnering rave reviews at the last New York Bridal Fashion Week. Her list of clientele includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Packham is one of the UK's most successful and independent fashion brands, dressing some of the most idolised celebrity trendsetters including Uma Thurman, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Diane Kruger, Dita von Teese, Kate Hudson and The Duchess of Cambridge.

Malaysian bridal designer Celest Thoi also launched 24 new looks, including debuting a bridesmaid collection that featured 12 designs, as well as a WAF2015 exclusive reveal of Celest's embellished pieces from her collaboration with Swarovski Crystal.

Completing the line-up were Alia Bastamam, Innai Red, and Singapore-based Indonesian designer Jessicacindy who each showcased 16 to 20 looks.

Wedding trendsetters were also shown the latest in wedding culture with the myriad offerings by quality vendors and emerging artists.

Other activities at Zebra Square include fresh wedding ideas such as event decor, wedding photography, air brush makeup as well as artisanal wedding cakes.
