KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- StartupMalaysia.Org is allocating a RM125,000 fund to the top five winners of an ASEAN technology startup competition.

Its Founder Dash Dhakshinamoorthy said the winners will be chosen for their ideas, cooperation among team members and the ability to work together remotely for the next three months.

"There are 300 participants, consisting of 130 entrepreneurs from Malaysia and 170 from other ASEAN countries, who will set up a venture and compete to become one of the five best projects during the two-day workshop," he told reporters on the sidelines of the 1ASEAN Entrepreneurship Mini Summit (Mini 1AES) here Thursday.

Themed 'Futurising ASEAN Entrepreneurs', the three-day summit is h?eld in conjunction with the 19th ASEAN Finance Ministers' Meeting and Related Meeting.

For this award, Dash said StartupMalaysia is looking for more critical ASEAN-related product solutions rather than a 'lite'/simple product such as Facebook or other social media-related product.

The startup venture company must consist of one local entrepreneur and two entrepreneurs from different ASEAN countries, and the five winners will be announced on Friday.

The Mini 1AES is a prelude to the 1AES, scheduled for Nov 20-22, 2015 and held in conjuction with Malaysia's chairmanship of ASEAN this year.
