SEPANG, March 17 (Bernama) -- The Rural and Regional Development Ministry will issue a complete data called 'Profil Kampung' that contains information about the requirement for development of 22,000 villages nationwide.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the data bank that is expected to be completed by next month, will contain details of each household, including their health report.

Mohd Shafie said the data bank would become a reference for the ministry to plan and implement development programmes based on the needs of villages and the people living in rural areas.

"Through the data bank we hope to overcome wastage and ensure initiatives taken by the government can reach the target group quickly," he said after a Rural Transformation Central Committee meeting, here today.

Mohd Shafie said the process of gathering information and data for the data bank would be led by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) and assisted by agencies and departments with the cooperation of the Health Ministry.

He said for a start, the 'Profil Kampung' would focus on the basic needs of villages before moving into details of household, like health reports, etc.

Mohd Shafie said the cooperation with the Health Ministry would ensure the type of requirement for the respective village, like clinic, hospital, pharmacy, level of medical experts needed.

"We will also study details of issues that can become a stumbling block to implement such initiatives," he said.
