LIMA 2015 Will Showcase Over 65 Maritime Assets

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- Over 65 maritime assets will be on display at Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition 2015 from March 17-21.

Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) chief, Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar said they include Russian assets, Admiral Panteleyev (destroyer), Pechenega (tanker) and SB-522 (rescue tug boat).

"This makes Russia the foreign country with the most maritime assets," he told a press conference at the Ministry of Defence, here today.

Also on show is RSS Stalwart of Singapore, the most advanced vessel in Southeast Asia.

Malaysia also increased the number of assets from eight at LIMA 2013 to 12 vessels, including the Scorpene class submarine, KD Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Eight vessels and 28 boats of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) will also be at LIMA 2015.

LIMA 2015 will also see the participation of 17 navy chiefs, the highest so far, and 15 representatives.
