Jovanovski Returns To Malaysia For More Action

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Serbian Bojana Jovanovski,23, is set to make a return to the BMW Malaysian Open tennis championship after a two-year absence.

The lass will be making her fourth appearance after she withdrew at the eleventh hour due to a back injury in 2013. She did not participate in the tournament last year.

According to the organiser, Kuala Lumpur has a sentimental connection to Jovanovski as it is the city she made her maiden Women's Tennis Association (WTA) appearance in 2010.

"So, it is no surprise the World No. 63 confirmed her entry for the BMW Malaysian Open at the Royal Selangor Golf Club from March 2 to 8," said the organiser in a statement, today.

In 2010, Jovanovski was given a wildcard as she was considered a rising star.

She cleared the first round convincingly but top seed Elena Dementieva of Russia, who was the world No. 7 then, was too hot to handle for her in the second round.

"Jovanovski reached the quarterfinals the following year but again fell to an eventual champion. Jelana Dokic was on a comeback trail and disposed the young Serb 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Jovanovski returned again in 2012 but fell to Australian Casey Dellacqua in the first round," said the organiser.

Although Jovanovski had won two WTA titles, the Baku Cup (2012) and Tashkent Open (2013), she knows it is unsatisfactory as she is still far off her compatroits, French Open winner Ana Ivanovic and former World No. 1 Jelena Jankovic.

The BMW Malaysian Open could be the tournament for Jovanovski to start her ascend to the top of the WTA rankings, said the organiser.
