KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) hope to introduce a Community League to unearth talented players at the grassroots level.

FAM President Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said every district would be requested to send a team to represent their respective district in the league.

"I hope the league can be a platform to further promote football in the districts and identify talented players at every village and district," he said after attending the presentation of a bus to the FAM by Bank Rakyat at the Bank Rakyat Headquarters, here today.

Tengku Abdullah however, did not reveal the concept or details of the proposed league since the FAM was still waiting for sponsors to pledge their support for the league.

Meanwhile, Tengku Abdullah when asked about the resignation of Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim as his advisor said he respected the decision made by Tunku Ismail.

Last week, Tunku Ismail when announcing his resignation as advisor to the current FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah had said he did not want to be part of an unfair organisation.

"I do not want to deny that there are weaknesses but we are moving forward and hoping to improve...I respect Tunku Ismail's views and also the views of others.

"I also welcome advise, views and recommendations from anyone. It's football, it's all yours...football is not my property," he said.

Tengku Abdullah had last October announced that Tunku Ismail would be his advisor.
