CNY Exodus: JPS Warns Of 10 Hot Spots In T'ganu

KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is warning motorists travelling during the Chinese New Year festive holidays of 10 hot spots (accident prone stretches) in the state.

Its Terengganu director Abdul Rahman Emang Anyie said the spots were in Kemaman, Dungun, Marang, Kuala Nerus, Setiu and Besut.

He said JPJ personnel would be on standby at the spots in an effort to reduce accidents at the stretches.

The ten hot spots are:

1. Kilometre 138 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan,(Cheneh, Kemaman)

2. Kilometre 107 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan,(Kg Labohan, Kemaman)

3. Kilometre 128 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan, (Hadapan Stesen Penguatkuasa Kijal, Kemaman)

4. Kilometre 68.9 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan,(Simpang Tanjung Jara, Dungun)

5. Kilometre 75 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan,(Hadapan Stesen Penguatkuasa Bukit Besi, Dungun)

6. Kilometre 30 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan,(Kampung Pulau Kerengga, Marang)

7. Kilomter 30 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu,(Kampung Lingai, Kuala Nerus)

8. Kilometre 68 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu,(Jalan Pantai Kampung Saujana, Setiu)

9. Kilometre 74 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu,(Hadapan Stesen Penguatkuasa Air Sejuk, Setiu)

10. Kilometre 90 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu,(Kampung Anak Ikan, Besut)

In KUANTAN, Pahang JPJ director Mark Ujin said the department would be mobilising 200 staff for road safety during the festive period in the state.

He warned motorists not to flout traffic laws or risk being booked.

In SEREMBAN, 111 motorists were booked in a road safety operation in conjunction with the Chinese New Year holidays yesterday.

Negeri Sembilan JPJ director, Nazli Md Taib said they would emphasise the 'Perception of Being Caught' this year to get motorists to obey the rules.
