Caliph Buskers Sing Their Way To Fans' Hearts

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Caliph Buskers unwittingly gain a big following after their recent performance at Anugerah Juara Lagu 29 with Mojo, which resulted in them winning the Best Performance category.


Caliph Buskers performed Mojo's hit number, Roman Cinta and for that they brought home a trophy and RM12,000 cash.


In their latest adventure, Caliph Buskers battled against the Hot FM Am Krew in a busking challenge at Central Market, Kuala Lumpur, last Friday.


The busking performance received good response from fans, young and old, who attended the event for a chance to have a closer look at the immensely talented, visually impaired street singers.


The Hot Fm Am Krew involved in the battle were Fara Fauzana, AG and Fizie who sang several songs, much to the delight of the fans. Among the songs performed that night were Arjuna Beta, Ke Pintu Syurga, Aku Yang Dulu, Mewangi and All of Me.


Caliph Buskers are Khairul Azmi Saat, 28, Fendy Alun, 24, Mohd. Zaki Ismail, 36, Nirwan Zainal Abidin, 26, Nor Nadira Rubiana, 24, dan Syahzmeen Abdul Rahman, 24 and their usual spots are Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Sogo shopping mall's five foot ways.


The band's name, according to the main guitarist, Nirwan Zainal Abidin, is an Arabic word, meaning 'leader'.


The group made their way into fans' hearts with their determination and great talent despite being visually impaired.


Also present to heat the night was the KRU brothers singing a few of their songs with the buskers.
