'Konsert Maestro Johari Salleh' Celebrates A Great Musician

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- ‘Maestro Johari Salleh’ is an appreciation concert for Datuk Johari Salleh as the country’s great musician for his contributions in the local music industry, particularly in the orchestral music segment.


The special concert, collaboration between Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)’s orchestra, conducted by the maestro himself, was held at Auditorium Perdana, Angkasapuri last Saturday. The concert received an overwhelming response from local orchestral music fans.


This first of its kind concert aimed at providing an opportunity for members of the public to enjoy orchestral music with high aesthetics and at the same time showcasing Datuk Johari Salleh’s musical works.


The maestro who hails from Singapore is a well-known figure in the Malaysian music industry. He is highly experienced in the industry and contributes back to the society by guiding young musicians.


Asked about the secret to his success, Datuk Johari said “Don’t be too full of ourselves, we must always be humble. I didn’t expect this (overwhelming response) and I’m deeply touched with the audience’s response and their applause”.


He hoped that this concert would be an inspiration to students who were passionate about music.


The guest artistes who performed in this special concert were Alyah, Nassier Wahab and Datuk Johari’s own daughter, Johana Johari. Among the songs on the playlist were Berdebar Rasa Hati, Papaku, Duniaku, Gadis Kota, Kau Yang Terindah and Hati Lebur Jadi Debu.
