100,000 Year One Students To Be Screened Under MyTID Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- About 100,000 Year One students from 1,500 schools throughout the country are expected to be screened for their skills under the sports Talent Identification Programme (MyTID) said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

"We will increase the numbers from year to year. Through the programme earlier only 20,000 students were screened. But with an allocation of RM34 million under the 2015 Budget, more students can be tested for their skills while another part of the allocation will be used increase the number of multilateral sports centres," he said when launching MyTID Data Management System at Dewan Perdana, National Sports Institute (ISN), here Tuesday.

Khairy said through the programme a more integrated screening can be carried out and roped into the National Sports Council's (NSC) back up squad.

The TID programme involves various components like height, body size, flexibility, speed, endurance, sustaining power and cardiovascular compatibility.

Apart from the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Education Ministry, Health Ministry, Defence Ministry, Ministry of Urban Development and National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb).
