UniMAP's Fruit Ripeness Sensor Wins Gold Medal Award At IENA 2014

KANGAR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis's (UniMAP) innovative product, Fruit Ripeness Indicator (FRIn), which was invented by its scientists to determine the ripeness of the premium "harum manis" mango, has won a gold medal award at the four-day International Trade Fair, Ideas, Inventions & New Products (IENA 2014) which ended in Nuremberg, Germany Sunday.



In a statement here, UniMAP said besides the FRIn, which was developed by a team led by Fathinul Syahir Ahmad Saad, UniMAP also won medals for two other products.



They were the 'Newly Developed Natural Rubber Glove With Tapioca Tree Latex' or HYPO-G developed by Dr Hakimah Osman and Dr Abu Hassan Abdullah who won a silver medal for for his invention Web-Based Machine Olfaction System for Atmospheric Hazards (HAZSens).



Meanwhile, UniMAP vice-chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the achievement was beyond expectations as more that 1,000 products were showcased at (IENA 2014).
