INCHEON, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- National shooter Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi celebrated her birthday today with a perfect birthday present by gunning down a silver medal in the women's 50m rifle prone at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range, here today.

Nur Suryani, celebrating her 32nd birthday today, gunned down 620.6 points to equal her personal best and clinch the silver medal behind Mongolia's Narantuya Chuluunbadrakh who managed 624.1 points.

"This is the second time I won a medal on my birthday. The first was in the SEA Games. What was more pleasing was that I was also able to equal my personal best," she said.

Nur Suryani's achievement brought some cheers to the shooting team which has failed to win any medals since day one of the competition.

"After failing to win a medal yesterday, I was very disappointed but kept my focus when remembering Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin's call for the athletes to not give up hope under any circumstances," she said.

Nur Suryani later partnered Nur Ayuni Farhana Abdul Halim and Muslifah Zulkifli in the team event to win a bronze medal after accumulating 1,853.6 points behind South Korea (1,855.5) and China (1,854.1).
