SAN MARINO, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- It was a tough run by Petronas Raceline Malaysia Moto2 rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah to climb to the 20th place at the San Marino World Motorcycle Grand Prix Championship(MotoGP) in Misano World Circuit, near here.

Hafizh who had a disappointing result in qualifying and started at 25th place on the grid had to fight hard in the track where overtaking was a tricky business due to the length and design of the circuit.

The result saw him slip one place to 20th in the championship standings with 29 points.

"I am not satisfied with the race as I know I can do better than 20th position. Partly also I did not have a good start causing me to lose several positions at the first turn."

"Should we have more dry sessions on Friday we would have got our machine in ideal set up for the race. The bike seems to be strong in earlier laps but the rear end lost some amount of traction which prevented me to dive out of turns earlier. Anyhow it is a good lesson for me as I am learning always."

"In the coming race at Aragon (Spain), I have been there when racing in CEV category but this is a new engine, new category for us but I hope to achieve something there," said Hafizh.

Commenting on the team's performance, Team Manager Barry Leong admitted that the weekend went a little tough for Hafizh who lost substantial amount of dry track sessions when the team needed it badly to speed up for bike set up.

"Most teams would use previous year dry set up for the riders and thus they were all ahead of us. We did the catching up in dry sessions set up sessions but there wasn't just sufficient time for us."

Another Malaysian Moto2 rider Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of Idemitsu Honda Team Asia finished the race at 32nd position after clocking 43 minutes 22.564 seconds.

Marc VDS Racing Team rider, Esteve Rabat from Spain won the race with a time of 42 minutes 48.724 seconds, while his team mate Mika Kallio from Finland settled in second position with 42:50.995s and AirAsia Caterham Motor Racing Team racer, Johann Zarco from France claimed third spot with 42:52.992s.

In Moto3 category, Malaysian Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin, of team Ongetta-AirAsia finished in 14th place with a time of 40 minutes and 06.179 seconds while another Malaysian Moto3 rider, Amirul Hafiq Azmi, from team SIC-AJO, clocked 40:45.906s to finish in 23rd spot.
