Kuala Lumpur -- The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) in collaboration with and supported by its beneficiary partner, Yayasan Sime Darby, are proud to present an inaugural Yayasan Sime Darby Art Festival (YSD Arts Festival) coming September.

Carrying a tagline 'A Malaysian Community Project', the festival aims to bring culture and tradition performances of all Malaysian 14 states within one avenue which thus far reckons as first of its kind.

"The Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival is going to provide the public with rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the very best of our traditional and contemporary arts," said the Chairman of Yayasan Sime Darby, Tun Musa Hitam during the launch held at The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) on Thursday.

"We want this festival to be significant and reflect the underlying perseverance and talents of our fellow Malaysian to converse our rich history and heritage while developing new modes of expressions for the current times and generation," said Tun Musa again.

The Governing Council of Yayasan Sime Darby Datuk Adeline Leong commented, “the festival will highlight everything in performing arts such as music, drama, painting, dance and photographic as well.

"The last two-day finale which is taking place on 13 and 14 September in klpac is going to be full of excitement and activities. One of the attractions is the 14 houses representing the different ethnic communities where they will showcase each state of Malaysia what culture they hold dear to them,” added Datuk Adeline.

Yayasan Sime Darby is highly confidence that the Arts Festival will do justice and reflect what arts are all about and it is their hope that the festival is able to deliver the message that speaks across boundaries and building cultural and social connection.

The three month festival will be going on until 14 September 2014 and the admission for the public is free.
