KUALA LUMPUR – The inaugural KL Heritage Park Night Run 2014 was held at the Perdana Botanical Park on May 3 recently.

Organized by Mount Design Outdoor with Revive Isotonic, Perskindol, and the Running Magazine as the main sponsors, the event serves to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2014 as well as highlight the lake gardens as a historical heritage of Kuala Lumpur.

The event was flagged off by Tourism Malaysia Director, Azmi Abdullah.

It provided participants with the opportunity to enjoy the serene environment of Kuala Lumpur’s heritage park while at the same time working up a sweat in healthy exercise.

KL Heritage Park Night Run 2014 is divided into the Men's Open, Women's Open, Men's Veteran Open (12km or 2 laps), and a Fun Run (6km or 1 lap) categories. The Fun Run provides the opportunity for families to bring their children along to join the run.

Participation fee is RM40 across the board and a portion of the collection will be channeled to selected charitable organisations.

The winners in each category walked home with cash prizes, medals and ancillary items.

"I hope to see more of our youths taking part in futures runs as not only is it good exercise, they get to enjoy the beauty of the park, strike up new acquaintances and introduce tourism products available in Kuala Lumpur,” Azmi said at the opening address.

“I also wish to remind our youths to stay clear of unhealthy activities, especially drugs," he added.
