Kuala Lumpur -- Tria Aziz is all geared up to perform her solo debut in a musical entitled 'A Bun In The Oven: A Musical Journey' at Pentas 2, the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) from June 19 to 22 June 2014

Tria Aziz, well known for her sultry voice among the followers of the English musical theatre circuit of Kuala Lumpur, was a grand-prize winner of 2004 Audition. Audition was a musical theatrical competition produced by NTV7.

She also recorded a single debut, Tika, for the movie Waris Jari Hantu and recently won The Best Female Actor at The Short + Sweet Musical Festival in 2013.

Having twice been nominated the Best Musical Performer for the Boh Cameronian Awards, she felt that she finally is ready to do a solo performance.

"I have always wanted to do a solo show but never had the courage to do so until recently, when I was invited to sing at a café in Hartamas," she said when asked on her decision to do a solo performance.

When asked why she chose to name her solo performance A Bun In The Oven: A Musical Journey, she replied "because I have a 'bun in my oven' at the moment and secondly, it sounds like fun.'

Being a mother sometimes changes the way women view love and through A Bun In The Oven – A Musical Journey, Tria is telling her side of the story through a carefully selected collection of songs of yesteryears, old Broadway favourites and tunes from the Disney animated films.

"The story I’m telling is my personal journey as a mother, so women might relate to that and young women (and men) might learn something new," says Tria.

Songs From The Cabaret & Broadway

Some of the songs she has enlisted to perform are evergreen numbers such as Hey Big Spender (Sweet Charity), Loving You (Passion) and theatrical beloved tunes from Mary Poppins’ - Spoonful of Sugar, Les Miserables - I Dream A Dream and Dick Tracy's - More.

Audience wil alos get to enjoy hit maker medley from Disney songs including Let It Go (Frozen) and I See The Light (Tangled) will also be – a duet with tenor, singer and dancer Peter Ong accompanied by the music director Loh Ui Li. Benjamin Lin will also be assisting Tria in her 'story telling'.

The theme of A Bun In The Oven – A Musical Journey is set in a relax cabaret-like ambience while being soulfully entertained by Tria's captivating voice as drinks and assorted morsels served during the show as well.

These songs have touched a lot of people, even those who have not watched the musicals they (the songs) are from.,” says Tria.

Tria dedicates her performance especially to her family – her husband, children, and grandfather, people who love musicals, her friends and followers who has been with her throughout her 10 years involvement in the entertainment industry.
