KUALA LUMPUR -- Universiti Malaya (UM) did a good job to ensure traffic control and security was at its best during United States President Barack Obama's visit to the university.

According to its Security Office director Yusof Harun, they received a 'thank you' note from the president for their excellent service during Obama's town hall-style session with young leaders from Southeast Asia at Dewan Tunku Canselor on April 27.

"This town hall session is very good publicity for the university, although three days of lockdown on campus programmes, events and transportation had been a slight inconvenience to all.

"This proves that UM has the best security measures which could safeguard the president's visit to our university," he said in a statement, here, today.

He also hoped Obama would choose to visit UM in the future.

The visit to UM was part of Obama's three-day visit to Malaysia, beginning April 26, a first by a sitting US president in 48 years since President Lyndon B. Johnson's trip back in 1966.
