KOTA KINABALU, April 5 (Bernama) -- Defence deputy minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said the youth in Malaysia were fortunate to be able to participate in the National Service Training Programme (PLKN), compared to those in other countries.

He said the training was a value added programme in the country's education and human capital development system that would greatly benefit the youth who would potentially be Malaysia's next generation of leaders.

"They get the opportunity to be trained in character building towards positive values as a preparation for them to become leaders at the various levels of Malaysian society in future," he said at Likas Stadium while launching the second PLKN session beginning Saturday until June 27, 2014.
