KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Feb -- Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) through its Drama Unit will feature more multiracial elements in its dramas and telefilms in line with the government's efforts to foster unity.

RTM TV Drama Unit manager Rahayu Wahid said the department has applied those elements in its Public Service Announcement (PSA) capsules broadcasted through RTM television and radio channels.

"In our drama productions as well, we include non-Malay characters in Malay dramas because, in reality, we live in a multiracial society.

"If we look at RTM's latest telefilm 'Berdua', which will be aired soon, Sutera, the leading female character, is an Indian. We may not have seen these before in any Malay dramas," she told Bernama after the preview of the telefilm at the Institute of Broadcasting and Information Tun Abdul Razak (IPPTAR), here today.

The telefilm, produced by RTM’s TV Drama Unit tells the story about a former lawyer, Sutera (played by Sangeetha Krishnasamy) who wants to make amends for her past mistakes after imprisoning Al (Faizal Hussein), an innocent inmate.

The drama which also stars Gambit Saifullah, Mohd Kamarulzaman Taib (Che Kem) and Zaidi Omar was directed by the 2019 Anugerah Skrin Best Director, Wan Afzam Wan Daud and will be aired on Feb 22 on TV1.
