KSPO banking on young guns for 2020 LTdL

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 -- South Korean outfit KSPO Professional Cycling will be relying on young blood to get positive results at the prestigious Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2020, slated to be held from Feb 6-15.

Led by senior rider Park Kyoung Ho, 26, the team include five other riders -- Shin Gwangho and Kim Jaehyun (both 19 years old), Kim Kwokhyun (20), Kim Ji-Hun (25) and Soon Young Kwon (26).

2020 LTdL chief executive officer Shahaizereen A. Hamid believes the young riders could give the top riders a run for their money.

"You can never underestimate the youngsters. They will be eager to prove that they deserve their spot in the squad, and they will want to show what they can do among some of the top riders in the continent and some of the best from Europe and the Americas," according to Shahaizereen in a statement issued by the organiser today.

Soon will certainly be the best bet for Kang Sandeul's charges to do well in the 25th edition of the cycling race, having finished second in the mountain classification (red jersey) behind winner Angus Lyons of Oliver's Racing.

The eight-stage jubilee edition covers a total distance of 1,095.7km in Sarawak, Terengganu, Pahang, Federal Territories (Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur), Selangor, Perak, Penang and Kedah.
