Prof Dr Mohammad Hamiruce is new deputy VC of USIM

NILAI, Dec 25 -- University Putra Malaysia (UPM) Research Management Centre director Prof Dr Mohammad Hamiruce Marhaban has been appointed as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

USIM in a statement here today said the appointment was to replace Prof Datuk Dr Roshada Hashim.

Mohammad Hamiruce, who is an expert in artificial intelligence, computer vision and robotics with a PhD in Electronics Engineering from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, has been appointed for a three-year term beginning Dec 15, 2019.

He began his career as a tutor at UPM in November 1998, and became a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering in September 2009, and has since held various positions including as head of unit, programme manager and research coordinator.

“He is also currently on the Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA) team for public universities and on the Higher Institution Centers of Excellence (Hi-Coe) assessment team,” the statement said.

According to the statement, Mohammad Hamiruce has also published more than 100 journals, participated in over 30 national and international conferences and has received more than 10 research grants.
