KUCHING, Nov 17 -- The Sarawak government will continue to provide venture capital for youths next year with a new allocation of RM4 million, among other things to assist the youths to participate in any course to improve their skills.

State Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said a committee at the ministry would scrutinise every application from local youths before approving between RM5,000 up to RM20,000 for each application.

"The fund is not a business loan or scholarship but to assist local youths with talents or skills to participate in courses to improve their skills,” he said in his speech before officiating the TEDx Kenyalang 2019 event, here today.

Abdul Karim said the fund was initiated this year with an allocation of RM5 million.

He said the fund was open for application by local youths who had any kind of talent or skill that could be brought to a higher level whether in terms of musical talents, skills in inventing goods or others.
