Augmented reality experience at Aquaria KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 -- Getting the experience fish swimming on the palm of the hand is one of many augmented reality (AR) experience of marine life available at aquariaKLCC, starting Oct 25.

Visitors can take a journey through the ocean floor for a fun and engaging side of technology.

This initiative is a collaboration between Maxis and aquariaKLCC for the public to experience to 5G technology and also to learn more about the ocean life and conservation.

Maxis chief technology and information officer, Morten Bangsgaard said through this engaging experience, everyone will be able to have a glimpse into the future of 5G technology, and see how it can be fun, immersive and educational.

“5G is a network that will power a future of smart solutions, and dramatically change the way we communicate and experience things,“ he said at the launching of the 5G AR marine life programme here today.

Also present at the launch was Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Al-Ishsal Ishak.

Bangsgaard said while they are still very much at experimentation stage, “they are excited at the possibilities of new technologies.”

Maxis has plan to launch its 5G AR which showcases agriculture applications and high-speed connectivity at home in the next few months in Langkawi, Kedah and Gamuda Cove, Selangor, he said.

The partnership between aquariaKLCC and Maxis is to showcase the 5G Malaysia Demonstration Project announced by MCMC.

Meanwhile, Aquawalk Sdn Bhd managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Simon Foong said through this initiative, it would provide visitors a new journey to experience and understand more about marine life with the latest technology.

"This would give our visitors the opportunity to see the effects of what technology can do and hopefully, give them a refreshed learning experience on the importance and value in keeping our oceans clean,” he said.
