Midfielder Azam returns to Harimau Malaya

PETALING JAYA, Nov 4  -- Harimau Malaya midfielder, Nor Azam Abdul Azih is confident of putting his best performance in three crucial matches this month.

The Pahang midfielder who missed the friendly against Sri Lanka and the Group G second Qualifiers for the World Cup 2022 /Asian Cup 2023 against Vietnam last month due to a right ankle injury, believes he is fully fit.

Following that the 24-year-old player said he hoped the national squad would win all three matches at the National Stadium which is a friendly against Tajikistan on Nov 9, before the qualifying campaign against Thailand on Nov 14 and Indonesia on Nov 19.

“I am ready for the three matches and want to give my best,” he said when met at the training session at Wisma FAM here today.

Nor Azam also hoped the presence of two other midfielders, Baddrol Bakhtiar, 31, and Afiq Fazail, 25, with winger Syazwan Andik Ishak and striker Farhan Roslan could form a formidable combination for Harimau Malaya.

Meanwhile chief coach Tan Cheng Hoe will be calling Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) II goalkeeper, Muhammad Haziq Nadzli, 21, to replace Kedah's Ifwat Akmal Chek Kassim who had asked for leave over a personal matter.

“I choose Haziq as this is good exposure for him and other under-23 players as preparation for SEA Games at the end of this month,” he said.

Malaysia are now in the fourth spot out of five teams in Group G qualifiers with three points after three matches.
