UIAM wins 26th Environmental Debate Competition

KUALA NERUS, Nov 4 -- The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) came up tops to win the 26th Environmental Debate Competition held at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) last night.

The win came after the IIUM team beat debators from 27 tertiary institutions including Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

The win came through the IIUM debaters - Muhammad Ilham Hafiz Azmi, Muhammad Wafi Anwar Roslan, Muhammad Aniq Qawiem Mohd Sazaly and Anis Afilna Hassan Sanusi, all 19 year-olds.

Muhammad Wafi Anwar, a first-year student of the Ahmad Ibrahim Kuliyyah Undang-Undang, was also best debater, winning himself a plaque and RM2,000 in cash.

At second place was the team from Universiti Malaya while in third place was Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

The prizes were handed by Deputy Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister, Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis, at a ceremony last night.
