PEKAN, Oct 9  --  Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has successfully maintained its five-star excellent rating under the National Audit Department’s accountability index assessment for the second consecutive year.

UMP vice-chancellor Professor Dr Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff said the evaluation was made based on the Financial Management Audit (Accountability Index) conducted every two years.

“Our first success was in 2016, and we successfully maintained the same achievement in our assessment last year. I believe among the factors that enable us to maintain good results due to the implementation of the ongoing internal control.

“We will ensure that the scope of control items listed is compiled, in addition, to organise workshops for staff to ensure we maintain high accounting standards," he told reporters after receiving the award from Pahang Audit Director Zulkifli Tunggal here today.

Furthermore, Wan Azhar said he is also optimistic that the UMP will continue to create a culture of work-based best practices to enhance financial management efficiency, for the continued excellence of the university.
