BATU PAHAT, Oct 8 -- Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is the first university in the country to collaborate with leading computer manufacturer Hewlett Packard (HP), through its subsidiary Aruba, to produce computer experts.

UTHM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Wahid Razzaly said the collaboration would also lead to the setting up of an academy capable of producing 70 computer experts at a time.

He said the academy, known as the Aruba Academy, would be housed at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology of UTHM, where it would also be the first Aruba academy in Southeast Asia and Taiwan (SEAT).

“In addition to producing computer experts especially in the field of networking, UTHM and Aruba will also use the academy for sharing of research and development in the field of information technology in the region.

"We hope that with this collaboration, it will help to produce more specialists in the important field of the 21st century," he told reporters after signing a memorandum of agreement on behalf of UTHM with Aruba here today.

Aruba was represented by its SEAT senior director and general manager Justin Chiah.
