A concert as a tribute to Pak Ngah at Istana Budaya

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 -- "Konsert Karya Agung Pak Ngah", a tribute to renowned traditional music composer, the late Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Zain will be held for two days starting on Nov 14 at Istana Budaya, here.

The two-hour concert aims to showcase the works of Suhaimi, or more fondly known as Pak Ngah, who was known for Irama Malaysia genre songs.

Famous singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza is among the artists who will perform with the Malaysian Traditional Orchestra (OTM), as well as Ernie Zakri, Syamel, Asmidar and Rojer.

Istana Budaya director-general Datuk Mohamed Juhari Shaarani said the concert was to give appreciation and recognition towards Pak Ngah's works.

Pak Ngah was a leading composer who was committed to upholding Irama Malaysia and had made a huge impact on the career of several Malaysian artistes and the people as a whole.

Siti Nurhaliza would be performing in a special segment and rendering seven songs such as Nirmala, Ya Maulai, Hati Kama and Balqis.

The concert will also feature songs composed by Pak Ngah from commercial theatres and hits such as Hang Li Po, Rubiah and Cinduo Mato and many more. 

Popular songs by Pak Ngah's collaboration with overseas artistes such as Indonesia and Singapore will be performed by Ernie, Syamel and Rojer on the night.

Tickets range between RM86 and RM556 and can be bought online at www.airasiaredtix.com and a discount of 10 per cent for the disabled, senior citizens and students.
