KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 -- The match fever surrounding the Group G match of the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup Second Qualifying Round between Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil tonight was also felt at the Istana Negara here tonight when Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah took some time off during a dinner event to watch the game.

Al-Sultan Abdullah watched the match with some 600 guests who attended the Appreciation Dinner Night event held for all those involved in His Majesty's installation ceremony as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah also watched the match.

Emotions ran high at the Main Banquet Hall especially when Malaysia almost scored on several occasions. The Harimau Malaya squad eventually went down 1-2 to their opponents.

Malaysia and UAE, with three points, now trail Thailand by one point in the group while Vietnam is in fourth place with one point. Indonesia remain pointless at the bottom.

Guests at the dinner also received a ‘special present’ from Tunku Azizah, who graced the occasion with a rendition of the song 'Kasih’, made popular by Indonesian artiste Hetty Koes Endang.
