MELAKA, Sept 10 -- All parties including state religious departments need to empower the meet-the-people programmes to gain access to the target groups especially problematic teenagers in order to lead them back into society.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof said immoral activities among teenagers such as promiscuity can be a liability to the country, thus disrupting the development of the country.

“Without overstepping on the enforcement duties of the state authorities, the meet-the-people programme focusing on teenagers can lead them back before they stray further.

“Other parties such as parents, teachers and community leaders need to be aware and take charge of this issue and this is not the time to point fingers and blame each other,”  he said this in his speech at the launch of Cakna Pergaulan Anda, Cegah Jenayah Tanggungjawab Bersama 2019 programme at Auditorium Masjid Al-Azim, here today.

Mujahid’s text was read by Malaysian Islamic Development Department Deputy Director General (Policy) Hakimah Mohd Yusoff.

On the programme, Mujahid said that its main objective was to promote the rahmah or mercy concept in syariah crime prevention efforts and to mobilise preaching programmes to all quarters towards a Malaysia based on Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin (Mercy to All Creations).
