UTeM the first public university to pioneer Professional Microsoft Data Science Certification Programme

MELAKA, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- The Technical University of Malaysia, Malacca (UTeM) is the first public university in the country to implement the Microsoft Data Science Professional Certification Programme.

Director-General of the Department of Higher Education (JPT), Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) Datin Paduka Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir said the implementation of the Mircosoft Data Science Professional Certification programme would enable graduates to get a better job in their field of study.

“This field of data science is one of the main areas of interest and demand for most organisations both locally and abroad.

"On the basis of the importance of data scientists jobs, which have been labeled as future jobs, the demand for careers in this field of profession has increased drastically over the years," she said in a statement issued by UTeM here today.

She hoped that projects undertaken in collaboration with KPM, UTeM, Iverson and Microsoft Malaysia where UTeM as the first public university to lead the project would continue to be successful.

Meanwhile, UTeM Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Raha Abdul Rahim said UTeM had begun the programme since July last year and has today produced three cohorts of 234 students.

“The participants were students from 16 public universities from around the country, each cohort taking six months to complete the course at UTeM,” she said.
