50 Young Footballers Get Michael Owen's Special Coaching

KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) – Some 50 young aspiring footballers from SK Seksyen 18 and SK Bandar Sunway were given special football coaching by English Premier League legend, Michael Owen recently.

The students are part of Joy Schools, an ongoing flagship social responsibility programme of brands producer Mondelez International (Malaysia), which leveraged from the second partnership between Cadbury and the English Premier League.

Mondelez managing director, James Kane said in a statement, "In line with our passion to empower young children to take positive steps towards their overall well-being and having a good balance between school and play, we are putting into practice, one of Joy Schools’ key pillars, Active Play.”

Commenting at the event, Owen said, “These students exuded high level of enthusiasm, were energised, focussed and disciplined throughout the session. It is good to see such commitment and seriousness from these young kids and I believe if they continue to have these attributes they will be able to excel in future.”

The Joy Schools programme has benefited some 11,500 students in 25 schools in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia since its inception in Southeast Asia in 2011.
