Shweta Sekhon Crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2019

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- Shwetajeet Kaur, 22, from Kuala Lumpur was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2019 after beating 17 other contestants at a Gala Night dinner held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Shwetajeet, better known as Shweta Sekhon, will represent Malaysia on the international stage at the Miss Universe competition later in the year at a yet-to-be-revealed location.

Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation (MUMO) in a statement said, as Miss Universe Malaysia 2019, Shweta also received a Habib Jewels crown worth RM2.38 million, cash and sponsored prizes with a combined value of RM180,000, and a full education scholarship from HELP University.

Shweta also brought home the subsidiary title of Miss Glojas Beautiful. Meanwhile, Frost Yaw Hui Jing, 25 from Johor is first runner-up, while the second and third runner-up are Tessminderjeet Kaur, 23 from Selangor and Lee Su Hsien @ Su Lee, 25 from Kuala Lumpur.

“The Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation has always been about inspiring, transforming and empowering young women out there to be confidently beautiful so that they can stand proud on a global platform with a sense of purpose, carry the Malaysia flag with pride and be able to make a difference,” said National Director of MUMO, Datin Elaine Daly.

The Gala Night panel of judges consisted of eight personalities and industry players, including CEO & Founder of Glojas Smart International Aesthetic, Datuk Dr JasG, Miss Universe Malaysia 2016, Kiran Jassal, and Miss Universe Indonesia 2013, Whulandary Herman.

Member of Parliament of Segambut, Hannah Yeoh, alongside Datuk Yasmin Yusuff, Datuk Hans Isaac and other 800 guests also graced the night, while Miss Universe Malaysia 2018, Jane Teoh was present to crown her successor.
