KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- Globally renowned Swedish multi-platinum singer and songwriter, Maher Zain promised exciting performance in his concerts across four states in Malaysia, with the first scheduled for March 9 in Kuala Lumpur.

Maher, who hails from Lebanon, said the Malaysian tour was like a dream come true for him as he had been looking forward to returning to Malaysia to perform.

“I am not saying this because many people said its media stuff but I really love Malaysia even before I became known as Maher Zain. So I feel really honoured to come back to Malaysia,”  he told reporters here today.

Maher Zain, with his soulful vocals in hits like InsyaAllah, For The Rest Of My Life and Thank You Allah, is the most popular Muslim singer on Facebook and the most viewed on YouTube with 5.8 billion viewers to date.

He also expressed hope that his fans in Malaysia would continue to be inspired by the messages in his songs about Islam.

Meanwhile, CIMB Group Chief Marketing Officer, Mohamed Adam Wee Abdullah said Maher's values were a reflection of CIMB Islamic's commitment to CSR and the sustainability agenda, which include similar initiatives like funding entrepreneurship programmes for the underprivileged, and high-impact environmental conservation projects.

He said CIMB invested 39 per cent of its CSR funds into community development to improve their income and well being.

Jointly organised by New Catalysts Resources and My Events International, some 50,000 fans are expected to attend the concert.

The first concert will be held at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on March 9, followed by Pasir Gudang Corporation Stadium in Johor Bahru (March 15), Spice Arena in Penang (March 16) and Universiti Malaysia Sabah in Kota Kinabalu (March 17).
