UiTM-LTAT ink MOA for UiTM Puncak Alam accommodation

SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Yayasan Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) today entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to build a residential hotel at UiTM Puncak Alam for the ease of students, parents and members of the public in need of lodging near the university.

UiTM board of directors chairman, Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, said the agreement will see an endowment of RM6 million from Yayasan LTAT, while UiTM will allocate RM2.8 million for the residential hotel.

“The monetisation arising from the residence will be used to provide scholarships for the children of army or ex-army personnel at UiTM. We haven’t decided on the estimated rental rate, as we need to study the demand and the current market,” he said in a press conference after witnessing the signing of the MOA, here, today.

The construction of the 39-room residential building will commence in March for a duration of two years on a piece of 0.75 hectare land near the site of the UiTM teaching hospital at Puncak Alam, which is currently being built.

The MOA was signed by UiTM vice chancellor Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Hassan Said and Yayasan LTAT trustee Datuk Azzat Kamaludin. The signing was witnessed by Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu.....
