KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- Islamic singer-songwriter, Maher Zain, will be releasing two singles this year in anticipation of an album launch in 2020.

“We are working on it (the new album) ... hopefully it will be released next year,” the Swedish-Lebanese artist told a press conference for the “Maher Zain Malaysia Tour 2019” today.

The award-winning musician’s last album -- ‘One’ -- was released in 2016.

Maher was joined at the event by Youth and Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, and CIMB Group Islamic Banking chief executive officer, Mohamed Rafe Mohamed Haneef.

The singer will kick off his tour in Malaysia with a performance in Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur on March 9, followed by Pasir Gudang Stadium, Johor on March 15, SPICE Arena, Penang on March 16 and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on March 17.

Touching on the upcoming concerts, the R&B star confirmed he will be collaborating with local artists but was mum on who he will be sharing the stage with.

Maher hopes his fans will make the tour successful and memorable.

It has been reported that 35 per cent of concert tickets have already been sold or pre-booked.

Mohamed Rafe is positive the tour will be a sell-out since Maher has many adoring fans here.

“I believe Maher will not just delight his audience, but also put on a world-class performance,” he said.

The tour is being presented by CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd, and organised by New Catalysts Resources and MyEvents International, with Bernama and Sinar Harian as the official media partners.
