Finas Plays Role In Promoting Local Content Overseas

SINGAPORE, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- The National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (Finas) is actively pursuing its role in assisting Malaysian producers to promote their content overseas.

Recently, the government agency, akin to the Motion Picture Association of America in the United States, brought 17 Malaysian producers to participate in the 2018 Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) held at Marina Bay Sands, here.

They were among the 5,600 delegates from 58 countries and regions participating at the ATF and ScreenSingapore which saw record-breaking performance, from attendance to sales transactions on the market floor.

Over US$316 million worth of deals and partnerships were estimated to have been facilitated over the dynamic three-day market, which was held on the sidelines of Singapore Media Festival (SMF) 2018.

Among the producers brought by Finas were Animasa Studio, Giggle Garage, Juita Viden, Lemon Sky Animation, Milky Tree, Pixelline Production, Sead Studio and Worldwide Rights Corporation.

SMF which took place from Nov 28 to Dec 9, comprised the ATF, ScreenSingapore, the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), SMF Ignite, and the inaugural edition of the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA).

A total of over 23,000 media and creative professionals, industry thought-leaders and enthusiasts of television and film from around the globe converged at the SMF.

The fifth edition of the SMF was hosted by Singapore’s Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA).
