IPOH, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) stringer, Muhammad Ekmal Abdullah has successfully defended the men’s singles bowling event, TBP7 (Cerebral Palsy- Standing) at the 2018 Perak Para Malaysia Games (Sukma).

What was even more astounding was that 25-year-old athlete from Perlis scored a gold medal hat trick  after having bagged won the gold in the event in the 2012 edition in Pahang and the 2016 games in Sarawak.

In the 2014 Sukma in Perlis, bowling was not competed and Muhammad Ekmal Hakim then only competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres events but had to be satisfied with the fourth place.

In the event today, Muhammad Ekmal Hakim emerged as champion after collecting 964 pinfalls while the silver medal went to Muhamad Uthman Surur @ Arif of Kuala Lumpur with 887 pins while the bronze medal was won by Roshemi Hashim of Perlis with 881 pinfalls.

“I am very happy with the success even though my performance was not outstanding due to switching lanes after every two games,” he told Bernama here today.

In this regard, the Melaka Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Communications diploma holder hoped the TBP7 would be competed at international level for him to display his talent further.

Muhammad Ekmal who suffers from limping due to premature birth, has been working with Perlis Bernama since May 2017.
