BRUSSELS (Belgium) Nov 24 (Bernama) – The people of Brussels have gotten a sneak peek to the gastronomical wonders of Perlis, thanks to Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).

The varsity succeeded in promoting scrumptious Perlis cuisine at Rumah Malaysia, the official residence of Malaysia's Ambassador to Belgium, Datuk Hasnuddin Hamzah, at an event held yesterday (Friday).

The event aimed at promoting Perlis as a choice tourist destination is one of the university’s long to-do list in the 14th edition of the UniMAP Education Tour that kicked off in Poland on Nov 19.

The delegation headed by the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also UniMAP chancellor.

The trip includes visits to institutions of higher learning and reviewing certain industries associated with engineering expertise. UniMap vice-chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal is also accompanying the Raja Muda.

In his address during the ceremony, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said that Chuping, an area in the state famous for mangoes should be made a “super fruit valley” as its land was suitable for high-value crops such as figs and olives.

He believed that if high-value crops were to be developed seriously, they would become “iconic products” for the agro-tourism sector in Perlis.

Also present at the event were foreign entrepreneurs and representatives from Belgium, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and New Zealand.
