KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) -- Thirty "wish" children and their families were recently treated to a blockbuster movie 'Avengers: Infinity War' in conjunction with World Wish Day 2018 on April 29.

The screenings took place at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) Ipoh Parade and GSC Sunway Carnival on May 5 May, and at GSC East Coast and GSC Paradigm JB on May 12.

GSC Chief Executive Officer Koh Mei Lee said in a statement, "GSC is pleased to work with Make-A-Wish Malaysia to grant the wishes of these children who have life-threatening medical conditions."

"As one of the leading cinema exhibitors in the country, we pride ourselves on delivering enriching cinema experiences, which we hope can give these special children an opportunity to make unforgettable memories with their loved ones," added Koh.

Chief Executive Officer, Make-A-Wish Malaysia Irene Tan said, "Many of these children are still battling their illnesses and we believe a wish can help transform their life, replacing fear, anxiety and depression with confidence, strength, and joy."

RELIEF AND HOPE

"A wish experience brings families together, offering them relief and hope, for they too have much to endure as care givers and providers," she added.

Collectively, the sessions hosted more than 300 attendees including wish children, their family, and Make-A-Wish volunteers, all of whom enjoyed complimentary popcorn and drinks. Every Make-A-Wish child also received a goodie bag filled with merchandise from the latest movies.

Make-A-Wish is the world´s largest wish-granting organisation, originating from the USA in 1980. Their mission is to grant wishes to children diagnosed with critical illnesses.

Malaysia became the organisation´s 35th affiliate in 2010 and has since granted 440 wishes to children from all parts of Malaysia.
