150 Designers Hit The Runway At KLFW RTW 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready to Wear (KLFW RTW) 2017 enters its fifth year, showcasing the 'Runway Collection" of 150 designers at Pavillion Kuala Lumpur from Aug 16 to Aug 20.

"Over five years, we´ve met many challenges but we never waver from our goal to continually develop the retail landscape for our local designers and ultimately, succeeded our mission in placing KLFW as one of the most prominent and influential fashion platforms in Malaysia," KLFW RTW Founder, Andrew Tan said at the media launch here.

The KLFW RTW was conceptualised in 2013 as a B-2-C platform for Malaysian designers to showcase their Ready to Wear Collections and ultimately highlight the strength and creativity of the Malaysia´s fashion Industry to local and international customers.

Working closely with Tourism Malaysia and AirAsia, KLFW 2017 will be inviting six international guest designers from China, India, Australia, Japan, the Philippines and South Korea to facilitate a creative bilateral dialogue between local and international designers and promote the international growth of local designers.

Tourism Malaysia has created a Fashion-On-Go OOTD Truck to encourage the public to go on the truck and take an OOTD picture and upload it on social media with the official hash tags #RURunwayReady, #Negaraku, #SayangMalaysia and #IAmHomeGrown and lucky winners will stand a chance to win tickets to witness KLFW 2017.

MALAYSIAN FAVOURITES

Malaysian favourites Fashionvalet, Wanpa, Faizul Noorizan, Ezuwan Ismail, Zery Zamry, Rizman Ruzaini, Innai Red will unveil their latest collections at the event.

Meanwhile, the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search (AARRDS) goes regional this year with the competition expanded to include Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia as well as from Malaysia.

According to KL Fashion Week on its website, the competition provided a platform for young aspiring designers from around the region to showcase their talents and help catapult them into the fashion industry.

All 20 finalists from all 10 ASEAN countries will be competing during the Grand Finale of AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2017 on Aug 18.

AirAsia Bhd Chief Executive Officer Aireen Omar said, "There is so much talent in this region, and as a truly ASEAN brand, we want to expand this designer search to other countries apart from Malaysia. ASEAN also has a strong talent pool which we hope to help bring to the forefront of the fashion industry."
