"Live Fearlessly" For Oral Health Month 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) -- Colgate-Palmolive Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) and the Malaysian Ministry of Health, Oral Healthcare Division had recently launched Oral Health Month 2017.

Opting "Live Fearlessly" as its theme, the campaign aimed at encouraging Malaysians to make regular dental visits as part of their oral and general well being.

According to the National Oral Health Survey in 2010, only 27.4 percent of adults made trips to the dentists and thi is because the rest of them felt that their teeth were fine, too busy or because they were too afraid.

"We should all remember that to maintain a healthy mouth, brushing and flossing are not always enough and regular dental visits can help preserve your teeth and smile for a lifetime.

"Malaysians only think that the need of visiting a dentist when in pain but maybe the cure and treatment is too late," said President of MDA, Dr. Chow Kai Foo at the launch.


Celebrated throughout March, the campaign emphasises on preventive care which includes proper brushing and flossing, which could greatly decrease the risk of tooth decay, gum disease and other dental problems.

"Complete treatment for oral health care includes visiting a dentist for regular check-up and professional cleaning should be groomed from a young age and we hope that Malaysians would be able to overcome their dental anxiety," said Marketing Director of Colgate-Palmolive (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei), Adam Pineda.

In conjunction with the campaign, free dental check-ups are being offered at 894 private participating dental clinics which can be found on Colgate-Palmolive website.
