KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- It is great fun watching a children's push bike race where excited two- to eight-year-olds try hard to balance themselves on the pedal-less bicycles whilst using their little feet to propel themselves forward.  

The push bike or balance bike, as it is also known as, is a bicycle without pedals and it enables young children to learn to balance and steer the two-wheeler first before they progress to a regular bike.

In Malaysia, the push bike is gaining popularity as parents are finding it an easier way to introduce their children to cycling.

National badminton legend, Datuk Lee Chong Wei, 37, who was recently recognised by The BrandLaureate Book of World Records for being the badminton player who spent the longest period -- or more specifically, 6 years and 8 months -- ranked world No. 1, said he hopes a Malaysian will better his record.
